ScamBlocker automatically protects you from phisher sites and scams that try to steal your personal information and identity. ScamBlocker lives in the EarthLink Toolbar for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. The EarthLink Toolbar is a free download for all Internet users (no need to be an EarthLink member). So grab it today!

If you're an EarthLink member, the Toolbar and EarthLink MailBox (both include ScamBlocker) are free with EarthLink TotalAccess.

Earthlink mailbox is: FREE for All ELNK membership not required.

When you attempt to visit a new Web page, ScamBlocker operates behinds the scenes to see if that site is on our list of known scams. If this site is on our list, EarthLink ScamBlocker goes into action and won't let the page appear. Instead, you'll see an EarthLink alert page with information about phisher sites and how to report a scam.

Working closely with other Internet companies and law enforcement, EarthLink constantly watches out for new phisher Web sites. As these new sites are found, EarthLink automatically adds them to our master list, which ScamBlocker checks every time you surf the Internet.

In addition to the list of our known list of phisher Web sites we automatically block, ScamBlocker also analyzes each page you visit, according to a set of security rules. Look at the ScamBlocker icon in your Toolbar as you surf and you'll see the icon change to display our security rating for the Web page you're visiting:

A green thumbs-up icon indicates that the Web page you're visiting is either on EarthLink's list of sites that have been cleared by our EarthLink-certified staff, or the page has passed all the tests run by ScamBlocker.
A neutral ScamBlocker image means that while we cannot guarantee that the Web page you are viewing is safe, ScamBlocker has found nothing on the page to indicate a scam.
A yellow thumbs-down icon is a warning to use extreme caution when accessing this site. ScamBlocker's analysis has identified characteristics that are often present in "phisher" Web sites. Keep in mind, however, that certain Web page elements often used by scammers, such as insecure forms, are also used by legitimate Web sites.
A red thumbs-down icon indicates that the Web page in question is highly suspicious, and may be a part of a "phisher" scam trying to steal your financial and/or personal information.

Keep in mind that unless a Web page is on EarthLink's list of known scams, ScamBlocker can't be absolutely sure that a page is completely safe or unsafe. If you have any doubt and want more information, please visit our ScamBlocker's complete Web Page Analysis for that Web page.

That way, you will be informed and able to make your own decision whether to submit any personal information. Just click the arrow next to the ScamBlocker button on your Toolbar and choose View Page Analysis.

If you have already installed Toolbar, we've created a set of Web pages that will let you see ScamBlocker in action as it rates the safety of various Web sites. Click here to see how ScamBlocker works!

You can easily turn ScamBlocker on and off for each browser window you open, by clicking the ScamBlocker button in your toolbar.

If you want to have ScamBlocker automatically off when you open a browser window, you can specify that in your Toolbar Options.
